Kamphaeng Phet National Museum

On the other side of the bridge the new town is on the right and the walled precinct of the old town, still with parts of earth ramparts once 6 m (20 ft) high, is on the left. Anyone who has not yet been to Sukhothai should first visit the museum quite close to the ruins. This contains a large collection of finds from Kamphaeng Phet, many of them showing the harmony and elegance which characterized the style of the Sukhotai period. There are also bronzes and sculptures from all the Thai art periods, including many masterpieces such as a bronze sitting Buddha in the U Thong style, 13th c. bronzes, and examples of the Lopburi and Dvaravati style of work.
