Kalundborg - Lerchenborg Palace Slot

5 km/3 mi south of Kalundborg on the peninsula of Asnæs stands Lerchenborg Palace (Lerchenborg Slot), built in the Baroque style in 1745 for General Lerchen, a rich Danish landowner. The three-winged edifice, the lower ancillary buildings, offices, stables, riding arena and park are grouped around a central line. The stuccoed Knights' Hall is the venue for concerts in summer (Lerchenborg Music Week). Two memorial rooms in one wing of the palace are dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen who was often a guest here. The park, laid out partly in the French style and partly in the English, has a beautiful rose garden.
