Where to Stay & What to See in Juneau

Juneau, the capital city of Alaska, is only accessible by air or water. The city is well worth a visit and Juneau hotels are well set up to handle the influx of visitors that arrive during the summer months. One of the smallest Juneau hotels is the Best Western Grandma's Feather Bed. This tiny property has 14 luxurious rooms complete with whirlpool baths, and in the morning guests are treated to a deluxe hot breakfast as part of the room rates. The hotel is housed in a Victorian style farmhouse and centrally located.

The three star Baranof Hotel is located near the waterfront and considered notable for its Art Deco public areas decorated by renowned local artists Eustace Zieglar and Sydney Laurence. The hotel offers channel and mountain views and is well equipped with a fitness center and noted restaurant.

Of all the hotels in Juneau, the establishment with the best location just very well may be the Prospector Hotel. This well run, tidy hotel boasts of a location right downtown on the waterfront. The hotel has oversized rooms and great views. Everything is a short stroll away and the friendly staff can help arrange outings to the world famous Glacier Bay National Park.

The city is not large and many of the attractions can easily be reached by taking a short stroll. Some of the most popular attractions include the Alaska State Museum, the Last Chance Mining Museum, and the Juneau-Douglas City Museum. Most of the prominent hotels in Juneau are well situated and close to the major sights.
