Jyvashytta
At Galdesand a road branches off Road 55 on the left and climbs steeply, with 21 hairpin bends, to the Jyvashytta (14km/9mi). This mountain hut, in a rugged and treeless region, is the highest point in Norway reachable by car (1,817m/5,962ft).

Galdhøpiggen (Glittertind)
From the Jyvashytta Galdhøpiggen, the highest peak in Scandinavia (2,468m/8,098ft) can be climbed in about four hours (guide required). From the summit there are superb views. To the east, beyond the Visdal, is Glittertind (2,452m/8,045ft), with its massive crown of snow.
