Hurrungane

Beyond Sognefjell (1,400m/4,593ft) the Road 55 descends, passing a number of mountain lakes and the Oscarshaug, to the Turtagrø hotel, a good base for walks and climbs in the Hurrungane (Horunger), the finest mountain group in the Jotunheim.

Skagastølsbotn
A particularly rewarding climb in the Hurrungane group is to the Skagastølsbotn, with the Skagastølsbre glacier (1,350m/4,429ft) and the Skagastølstinder behind it. About four hours should be allowed for the climb; for the ascent of the Store Skagastølstind (2,404m/7,888ft; strenuous) an additional four hours are required.
Fanaråk
From Turtagrø Fanaråk (2,075m/6,808ft), to the east of Skagastølsbotn, can be climbed in four-five hours. A guide is required for all climbs.
