Ják - St James' Chapel

Opposite the west front of the church, on a quartered ground plan, stands the small, two-story St James' Chapel, built c 1260. It served the local community as a parish church where baptisms, weddings and funeral services were performed, these not being allowed in the main church. The rounded decorations on the double-windows of the upper floor complement the motifs on the windows of the abbey church. The relief on the tympanum above the south door depicts the Lamb of God between two Dragons. The interior furnishings of the chapel are Rococo. Note the mid-18th C altar, which was originally in the main church.
