Todi, the ancient Umbrian city of Tuder, lies in the south of the central Italian region of Umbria, some 40km/25mi south of Perugia. The town occupies a triangular site still partly surrounded by its rings of Etruscan, Roman and medieval walls, on a ridge above the Tiber valley. An American study carried out in 1990 selected Todi as the town enjoying the best quality of life anywhere in the world.
