Portofino, some 30km/19mi southeast of Genova, is picturesquely situated in a narrow cove at the southeastern tip of the promontory of the same name.

Holiday resort

The village owes its popularity with visitors to its beautiful setting, its agreeable climate and its luxuriant Mediterranean vegetation.
Village of Portofino
The houses of the former fishing village line the bay, and the slopes are covered with pines and olive trees. To the south, above the harbor, is the church of San Giorgio, from which there is a beautiful view of Portofino. There are even more extensive views from the platform beside the Fortezza di San Giorgio, to the east, extending northwest to Capo Mele and the Maritime Alps.
