SS 115 Agrigento-Licata.

Location

Palma, a typical small Sicilian town, lies near to the south coast 31km/19mi southeast of Agrigento. It is one of the new towns established in the 17th century, having been founded in 1637 by Prince Carlo Tomasi Principe di Lampedusa, and originally called simply Palma; it was not until 1861 that the name of the nearby castle of Montechiaro was incorporated in its title. Linked for so many years with the Lampedusas, it became well-known in 1962 when Visconti chose it to film the novel "The Leopard" by Giuseppe Tomasi Principe di Lampedusa (1896-1957).
Castellazzo di Montechiaro
This castle lies 5km/3mi southeast of Palma di Montechiaro on a hill above the sea. It was built in the 14-15th century to protect the coast from attacks by pirates.
Marina di Palma, Italy
(Near Palma di Montechiaro)
The fishing village of Marina di Palma with its fine beaches lies 5km/3mi south of Palma di Montechiaro. The defensive Torre di San Carlo dates from the 17th century and - like the town itself - was the work of Carlo Tomasi di Lampedusa.
