Ansedonia Attractions

Ansedonia lies at the south end of the coast of Tuscany, opposite the Monte Argentario Peninsula and some 40km/25mi south of Grosseto.

The modern town

The attractive little settlement of Ansedonia with its numerous villas extends from the sea up into the coastal hills. Above it, at a height of 113m/371ft, are the remains of ancient Cosa.

Vulci
The old Etruscan city of Vulci has historical importance. Thousands of vases and bronzes were recovered by excavation in the cemeteries of Vulci in 1828 and following years. To the west, beyond the river, are remains of the ancient city, which was destroyed during the Middle Ages.
