Description
To the west of the Great Bazaar, on the third of Istanbul's seven hills, Bayazit Square occupies the site of Theodosius I's Forum. On the east side of the square is the Bayazit Mosque or Pigeon Mosque, built in 1498-1505, during the reign of Mehmet II's son Bayazit. The interior, painted in Turkish Rococo style in the 18th century, is a simplified imitation of the Hagia Sophia.

From the south side of the square Ordu Caddesi leads west in the direction of the land walls.
