Grotta di San Nicola / Grotta di Santa Maria
Especially worth seeing are the Grotta di San Nicola (with the remains of Byzantine paintings), the Grotta di Santa Maria (sixth century), as well as the Christian burial caves "u campusantu", "urruti caruti" and "urruti giardina", and not least, the "Castello".
Access
The Cava d'Iàspica is reached either from Mädica in a southeasterly direction or from Iàspica in a northwesterly one. The visitor needs to travel on the SS 115 as far as Béttola dle Capitano (6 or 11km/3.5 or 7mi), where he should turn off northwards, arriving after 5.5km/3.5mi at the Cava. It is advisable to request a guide at one of the houses at the beginning of the valley.
