Description
(Local Name: Na Cruacha Dubha) Macgillicuddy's Reeks (Na Cruacha Dubha, "The Black Mountains") lie on the Iveragh Peninsula in the southwest corner of Ireland.

In this range of ancient red sandstone hills are Ireland's highest peaks, Carrantuohill (3,414ft/1,040m), Beenkeragh (3,262ft/994m) and Caher (3,150ft/960m). They offer good climbing, and from the two highest peaks there are far ranging views over Dingle Bay to the northwest, the Killarney lakes and the south Kerry hills. No less fine are the nearer views of the gorges, the green valleys and the little lakes glittering far below.
