Pella (pop. 10,000) was settled in 1847 by Dutch emigrants fleeing religious intolerance. The town has been renovated to resemble a village in the Netherlands and has many tulip gardens.
The Pella Historical Village is home to flower gardens, architectural models and antique Dutch heirlooms. The complex features 21 steep Dutch roofed buildings such as a log cabin, a pottery shop, a windmill, and a workshop where wooden shoes are sold.
