Boone Attractions
Boone (pop. 13,000) is the county seat in the Des Moines River Valley. It is home to Ledges State Park, a scenic area that borders the Des Moines River.
This restored Victorian home in Boone was the Birthplace of First Lady, Mamie Doud Eisenhower, wife of Dwight D Eisenhower, 34th President of the United States. Exhibits feature her life and family history. Mamie's 1962 Plymouth Valiant and 1949 Chrysler Windsor are also on display.
