South Bali

Southern Bali is the most fertile part of the island. It is a region of well watered alluvial plains fertilized by volcanic ash lying on the windward side of the central volcanic hills. They have high rainfall throughout the year, providing an abundant supply of water for irrigation. This is the most intensively cultivated part of the island, with extensive terraced rice-fields.

The south of Bali includes the Denpasar area and regions south of Denpasar.
