Bukit Badung Peninsula
By road: 21 km (13 mi.) from Denpasar on the Jalan Bypass; 15 km (9 mi.) from Kuta and Legian, 23 km (14 mi.) from Sanur.
Bus: regular services from Denpasar-Tegal.
Bemo: on road between Denpasar and Nusa Dua.
Taxi: registered taxis between Denpasar, Kuta, Legian and Sanur. Drivers often suggest, particularly in the evening and at night, switching off the meter and then name a fixed price - on which haggling is perfectly in order.
Bukit Badung is the peninsula at the south end of Bali, linked with the rest of the island by an isthmus only 1.7 km (1 mi.) across at its widest point.
Originally the peninsula had little of interest to offer. The barren soil was unsuitable for farming, and fishing provided a living for only a few of the inhabitants. It is only since the mid seventies of this century that the development of the tourist center at Nusa Dua has made Bukit Badung widely known.
