Vincennes, in southwestern Indiana on the border with Illinois, is the state's oldest town, founded in 1732. The main sights are the George Rogers National Historical Park, which commemorates the revolutionary battles against the British, and Grouseland, the home of William Henry Harrison, 9th President of the United States.
The George Rogers Clark Memorial is Jefferson Memorial size and stands on the site of Fort Sackville which Lt. Col. George Rogers Clark and his men claimed in 1779. The
Battle of Vincennes (February 23 to 25, 1779) resulted in the capture of Lt. Governor Henry Hamilton who was like the Vice President of British Canada, which extended south to the Ohio River at the time.

Built in 1803-04, Grouseland belonged to William Henry Harrison, later the ninth President of the United States. This was his home while he served as the first governor of the Indiana Territory. The mansion has been restored to look as it did in the 1800's, complete with antique furniture, china, and paintings.

The Old Cathedral, also known as St Francis Xavier, is located in Vincennes and can be easily located in town by the Old Cathedral bell tower. The present facility consists of multiple buildings in a pleasant setting with tall trees on either side. The Old Cathedral is thought to have been constructed in the early part of the 19th Century.
