Sirpur Attractions

Sirpur is historically significant as it dates back from the 5th to the 8th C. The Laxman Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is one of the oldest brick temples in India. The Laxman temple is noted for the interesting carvings and has become a major tourist attraction.

Sirpur has also been the sight of many archeological finds associated with the various religions such as Shaiv, Vaishnav, Jain and Buddhism. Excavations have uncovered a Buddhist monastery, which suggests that Sirpur was an important Buddhist center.
