Imphal Attractions

Imphal is the capital of Manipur, it is surrounded by forested hills and vast plains. Imphal is also Manipur's cultural capital with traditional festivals and shows for Manipuri dances featured on a regular basis.

Relics of an old palace, well-planned temples and ceremonial houses throughout Imphal are set amidst the pine and jackfruit trees. Imphal is one of the most ancient towns in India and is ideal for tourists looking for a destination off the beaten track.

Manipur State Museum
The Manipur State Museum displays a collection of Manipuri costumes, war instruments, historical documents and relics. Sculptures of the local forest gods and a motif of the Phakangba, the man who could turn himself into a dragon are featured.

The history of the state is presented at the Manipur State Museum as well as tribal heritage.
