Cherrapunjee (Sohra) Attractions

Cherrapunjee or Sohra, as it is known locally, used to be the wettest place on earth. That title has now passed to Mawsynram.

The natural beauty of Cherrapunjee includes gushing waterfalls and deep gorges. Near the town are several breathtaking waterfalls - Nohsngithiang Falls (Mawsmai Falls), Dainthlen Falls, and Nohkalikai Falls (the world's fourth highest). Most tourists come to the area for the falls.

Dainthlen Falls has magnificent rock formations and has become a popular picnic spot. The Nohkalikai Falls are considered the most spectacular in Meghalaya. They are at the most deafening and glorious after the monsoon. The best time to visit is from mid May to October.

Mawsmai Caves are atmospheric caves filled with stalagmites and stalactites. When a torch or other source of light lights the Mawsmai Caves, the reflection of light radiates millions of crystal colors.
