Paulinzella Description
East of Ilmenau are the impressive remains of the Benedictine house of Paulinzella, founded in 1112 (restored 1965-69). This is a fine example of the work of the Hirsau school of church builders, which began to spread from southern Germany at the end of the 11th C.
