Carbondale Attractions
The Shawnee National Forest is located south of Carbondale, it is a popular recreation area.
Giant City State Park offers 4,000 acres of flowers, wildlife and scenery. The visitor center provides interpretive displays on the geology, plants, animals, and history of the park. Many recreational opportunities including fishing, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding and camping.
This children's museum Science Center in Carbondale features hands-on, interactive exhibits that allow visitors to experience the wonders of science.
