Altamont Attractions
Altamont has several historical attractions. Agriculture is the prominent industry with manufacturing complimenting the workforce.
Altamont Living Museum is housed in a German Reformed Church, built in 1912, and currently used for live theater performances.
The Ben Winter Museum is home to fifteen steam engines, as well as several gas and oil engines. Other antiques on display range from Victrolas to Linotype machines to a complete pipe organ.
Dr Charles Wright built this Victorian home in 1874 and moved to its current location in 1889. The home is Second Empire style with Italianate influences featuring 18 furnished rooms, complete with original furnishings from 1889 or earlier.
