Idaho Springs - Argo Gold Mine Mill and Museum
Construction on the Argo Tunnel was started in 1893 and completed in 1910 - it became the longest mining service tunnel in the world. Tours of the Argo Gold Mine, Mill and Museum begin at the hand-dug Double Eagle Mine and end at the Clear Creek Mining Museum in Idaho Springs. From the Double Eagle Mine the tour is self-guided. Visitors can walk through the mine and down through mill reading and observing the equipment and processes used to extract the gold.
