Siglufjordur Attractions

Siglufjördur is the northernmost town in Iceland, and signs of its past glory as the herring capital of Iceland are still evident.

Siglufjördur's population of 1,800 still depends on the sea for work and enjoys a dramatic setting beside a small fjord at the northern tip of the Tröllaskagi mountain range.

The historic architecture, the colorful rooftops of upper town, the harbor and the backdrop provide a photographic setting. The modern sculpture near the shore, a gummi boat confronting monster waves, provides a feel for Siglufjördur's past.
