Ile de Port-Cros
East of the Ile de Porquerolles lies the Ile de Port-Cros (4km/2.5mi long, 2km/1mi wide). Since 1963 it and the surrounding off-shore area has been a Parc National (nature reserve); only a few people live on this island.
The luxuriant Mediterranean fauna and flora (primeval forests, nesting sites of rare birds, fishing grounds) and the former Fort du Moulin (17th C.) at the entrance to the harbor of Port-Cros are of considerable interest.

West of the harbor lies the little Ile de Baguad (up to 59m/194ft high). From Port-Cros a particularly rewarding walk (1.5 hours) leads from the harbor southeast into the Vallon de la Solitude (Valley of Loneliness) and to the imposing Falaises du Sud (almost 200m/654ft high steep cliffs). Also worth while is a three-hour walk eastwards to the charming Pointe de Port-Man. The highest points are Mont Vinaigre (196m/643ft) and La Vigne (207m/679ft). The island is at its best during blossom time from March to May.
