Bollnäs: Trip into Interior

From Söderhamn, Road 301 leads inland to Bergvik, where the first sulfite factory in the world was established in 1874; industrial museum. The road to Bollnäs runs past Rengsjö Hambygsgård, an open-air museum with old farmhouses and cottages, some of them dating from the 15th century; one notable feature is the "sun door" on one of the houses.

Bollnäs lies in a long-settled farming area at the confluence of the rivers Voxna and Ljusna (fishing, canoeing). From the top of the Bolleberg (262m/860ft) there are fine views of the surrounding country.
