Horsens - Friary Church

Horsens' Friary Church in Borgergade is the only surviving feature of a 13th C. Franciscan foundation. It was restored in 1892 when efforts were made to reintroduce the Late Gothic form of the building. The carved altar dates from around 1500, as do the choir-stalls and the triumphal cross. The pulpit has cartouche and scrollwork (ca. 1650). Note the tombstones which include those of an important merchant and the Russian princes and princesses who once lived in the Lichtenbergs Palð. There are also 18th C. tombstones in the churchyard.
