Honolulu - Hawaiian State Capitol
Hawaii State Capitol Building is a rectangular building with a round open courtyard which resembles a volcano. Exterior walls are covered with lava rock. The structure sits on pools representing the surrounding ocean. Care was taken to include materials from all islands to symbolize the unity of the state. Several sculptures are on the site. This modern building was constructed in 1965.

Statue of Queen Liliuokalani
On the Makei side of the Hawaii State Capitol Building stands a statue of the last Hawaiian monarch, Queen Liliuokalani, who spent the years after her abdication not far from here in Washington Place, today the residence of the governor.
