Southern Honduras

The southern part of Honduras narrows to touch the Pacific Ocean. In the natural harbor leading into the Golfa de Fonseca is the once-volcanic Isla El Tigre (Tiger Island). Travelers in this part of Honduras are usually on route to El Salvador or Nicaragua although the colonial city of Choluteca is an alternative destination.
