3 km/2 mi east of the Herning town center at Birk lies the Angligården, the building of a former textile factory. Built to plans by Carl Theodor Sorensen and Christian Frederik Moller the house had a circular layout; in the inside courtyard is an interesting 200m/650ft long ceramic frieze "Phantasy Playing round the Wheel of Life", by Carl Henning Pedersen.
The art collection has works by Danish masters, including Asger Jorn, Robert Jacobsen, Svend Daalsgaard, Paul Gadegaard and Richard Mortensen, as well as pictures by foreign artists such as Piero Manzoni and Victor Vasarely.
Near the Herning Art Museum stands a museum which was opened in 1976 and displays works by the Danish artists Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt; both were members of the international body of artists known as COBRA. Here, too, the external wall is decorated with a ceramic frieze by Pedersen which is reflected in a moat surrounding the building.
Adjoining the Herning Art Museum, in the circular Sculpture Park can be seen a number of sculptures dating from the 1950s, by both Danish and foreign sculptors. Near the park are the "Geometric Gardens", laid out by the Danish landscape architect C. Th. Sorensen who was also responsible for the Sculpture Park.
The park has thirty six different units, each containing a sculpture.
