Hawaii Island - Flightseeing

While sightseeing by air excursions are offered on almost all islands, it is probably most important on the big Island of Hawaii. The reason for this is that whereas sites on other islands can be seen by a number of options, the only way to see the prime attraction on Hawaii, the smoking volcano in the National Park is by air. There is no other way of getting close.

The many flight companies offer three aircraft options: helicopters, fixed-wing with wings below the windows and fixed-wing with wings above the windows.

Helicopter tours are generally the most expensive and shortest because of the cost of operating helicopters. They go to the top spots only. The fixed wing flights tend to offer more. In two hours they circle the island showing not only the volcano, but also the very lush and rugged northern coast.
