Where to Stay & What to See in Hawaii

Hawaii, a lush green oasis surrounded by magical blue waters, is an island-resort destination that has consistently been a favorite with tourists. Hawaii is the perfect getaway not only for Honeymooners and couples in search of a romantic retreat, but also for families, beach lovers and water sport enthusiasts. As a popular vacation destination, Hawaii offers a wide variety of luxurious beach resort hotels. Some of the best hotels in Hawaii can be found in the most frequented islands which include Oahu, Maui, Lanai, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii.

Oahu Island is perhaps the most visited island in Hawaii. Oahu consists of the tourist hotspots; Waikiki Beach, the North Shore, and the Windward coast which has earned a reputation for its splendid beaches. At the core of this island is Honolulu, an interesting city center boasting a rich heritage and several cultural attractions. Honolulu features a number of notable museums including The Bishop Museum and the New Hawaii State Art Museum. If you are travelling with family, be sure to visit the Honolulu Zoo, Kapiolani Park, and the Lolani Palace. When in Honolulu, do not miss the islands most famous attraction; Pearl Harbour. Honolulu also offers some great shopping opportunities. Shopaholics will want to check out Kalakua Avenue, Kilohana Square and the Kahala Mall which are some of the best places to shop. For the more adventurous, there are possibilities for venturing outside of the city center on some exciting tours. Consider taking the popular 'Circle Island Tour' which showcases the islands most beautiful sights including the Sea Life Park, the local coffee plantation, the Waimea Falls Park, and Sunset Beach. Finding a suitable hotel in the Honolulu and Waikiki beach areas is relatively simple as there is a plethora of options, some of which are the most luxurious hotels in Hawaii. The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, a landmark Pink Palace, is a beautiful five-star hotel that has consistently been a favorite. Another esteemed establishment is the Halekulani Hotel, Honolulu which is known for its immaculate service. The Trump International Hotel and Tower Waikiki Beach walk is also a great place to stay, with beautiful views of the waterfront and modern rooms.

Maui is the second largest island in Hawaii and is also densely concentrated with tourists. Known as the "Magic Isle", Maui boasts the beautiful beaches of Wailea in East Maui and a wealth of attractions to visit as well as luxurious places to stay. The finest hotels in Maui include The Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa, The Four Seasons Resort in Wailea, and The Fairmont Kea Lai Hotel - all of which offer unparalleled service and top notch luxury. Aside from the beaches in Wailiea, there is plenty to experience on this charming island. Oozing history and heritage is Laihana, a whaling town that is worth a visit. If you prefer the hustle-bustle of city life, the towns of Kahului and Wailuku are the places to go. Nature lovers will want to visit the gigantic volcano known locally as "The House of the Sun", and the equally breathtaking Waterfalls at Wailua Cove. Other exotic natural wonders in Maui include the Hana Rainforest and the Ka'eleku Caverns.

For those who want to explore the less common albeit equally marvelous destinations in Hawaii, choose from the Islands of Lanai, Kauai and of course, The Big Island of Hawaii. Known for its extensive pineapple plantations, Lanai is home to some interesting archaeological sites, and serves as the ideal place for Whale-watching due to the abundance of whales in the waters surrounding the island. Top luxury hotels in Lanai include the well established Four Seasons Resort Lanai - The Lodge at Koele, and The Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay. Kauai Island speaks of splendid natural beauty with its mountain ranges, breathtaking waterfall, Waimea Canyon, and tropical rainforest. The island features serene beaches that make for a sharp contrast to the busier beaches in other islands. Kauai Island is home to numerous luxurious hotels that make for some of the finest hotels in Hawaii. Amongst these are the Marriott Kauai Resort and Beach Hotel and the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa. The Big Island of Hawaii presents a wealth of attractions, the most prized of which is the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The Park is amongst the most spectacular wonders of the world and is definitely worth a visit.
