Havre de Grace was a prosperous mercantile town in the mid-1800s - mainly due to its location at the convergence of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay. Many buildings were torched by the British during the War of 1812. There are many historic attractions such as the Concord Point Lighthouse.
