North Cape - Excursion

One of the attractions offered to visitors in Hammerfest is an excursion to the North Cape, either by sea or by a combination of boat and bus. The fast ships of the Hurtigrute leave Hammerfest daily at 8:30 a.m. and reach Honningsvåg about 2 p.m. From there a bus runs to the North Cape and after a short stay returns to Honningsvåg, from which the return to Hammerfest is on the evening bus.

The return boat does not leave Honningsvåg until the following morning, but a night spent there, at the cost of losing one's sleep, is richly rewarded by the fascinating sight of the midnight sun. The morning boat arrives back at Hammerfest about 11:30am.
