Hämeenlinna to Tampere via Pälkäne and Kangasala
This route (83km/50mi goes via Hattula, Pälkäne, Vehoniemenharju and Kangasala, and is preferable to the main road (E 12) and is only 3km/2mi longer. From Hämeenlinna it follows the west side of the Vanajavesi, with Aulanko Park on the opposite shore.

Vehoniemenharju
In 11km/7mi from Pälkäne the road comes to the Vehoniemenharju, a beautiful ridge between Lake Roine and the Längelmävesi. It then continues over the Kaivanto Canal, which links the two lakes, and runs along the west side of the Keisarinharju, from which there are extensive views.
