From the west end of the Vanajanselkä the western route goes northwest through the Makkaraselkä to Toijala. At Lempäälä the boat passes under the road and railwroad from Hämeenlinna to Tampere, enters Lake Pyhäjärvi and continues to Tampere. The trip takes seven hours.
