Hameenlinna Castle Description
To the north of Hämeenlinna, on the shores of the Vanajavesi, stands the well-preserved castle of Hämeenlinna (Swedish Tavastehus Slott), begun by the Swedish king Birger Jarl in 1260 and completed by Per Brahe in 1639. Still farther north we come to the Municipal Park (fine views).
