6 km/4mi downstream on the Elbe from Blankenese (near Hamburg), at the Schulau ferry house, can be found the Willkommhöft ship-greeting station, where ships arriving or departing during daylight are greeted by the playing of their national anthem and the hoisting of their national flag.
