Hall in Tirol - Old Town Altstadt

The center of Hall in Tirol's picturesque Old Town (Altstadt), higher up, is the Oberer Stadtplatz. Here stands the medieval Rathaus, in which the fine Council Chamber (1477; beamed ceiling) and the Mayor's Parlor (1660; panelled are open to visitors).

The parish church, standing on a terrace, is basically Late Gothic, with a Roccoco interior (1752). In the north aisle the Waldauf Chapel (c. 1500), enclosed by a fine screen, houses a remarkable collection of relics collected by the knight Florian Waldauf von Waldenstein.

Must-see attractions nearby:
To the east of the choir are two chapels - the Magdalene Chapel (15th and 16th century wall paintings), now a war memorial chapel, and the St Joseph's Chapel, adjoining which are some remains of the old arcades in the churchyard.
