Handicraft Market
This officially-sanctioned handicraft market opened to the public in 1974 to preserve and promote traditional handicrafts. Textiles and ceramics plus wood and leather items are sold. Occasionally marimba (Central American xylophone) music and folkloric dances are presented.

La Aurora National Zoo
La Aurora National Zoo is home to over 100 species of animals native to Guatemala and Central America including rainforest animals such as spider monkeys, parrots, macaws, and jaguars, crocodiles, and coatimundi.

Of note are the jaguar enclosure and the herpetarium with a good selection of exotic snakes.

African and Asian animals are also contained.

A playground for children is included.

National Museum of Archeology and Ethnology
The Archeology and Ethnology Museum, with its prized collection of Mayan artifacts exhibits the legacy of the Mayan Culture through jade and ceramic artifacts, stelae and royal tombs. Dioramas exhibit life in a Mayan city and a Guatemalan village.
