Description
The fort was established in 1834 by members of the Parker families to protect their small settlement. The fort was attacked by the Comanches, who killed five of the family and abducted nine year old Cynthia Ann Parker. The girl grew up with the Indians and eventually married a chief. She was captured, along with her two year old daughter, 24 years after she was originally abducted. She was taken from the Indians and forced to resume life with her white kinsmen, being held captive against her will. She and her daughter both perished four years after her return.
