The Macedonian town of Sérvia lies on a pass between two ranges of hills to the west of Mount Olympus. As its name indicates, it was founded by Serbs during the Middle Ages.
The town's main tourist attraction is not so much its ruined 11th century episcopal church as Lake Aliakmón, an artificial lake 6km/4mi northwest.
20km/12.5mi northwest of Sérvia is Kozáni, and 28km/17mi beyond this is the industrial town of Ptolemáis.
At Sérvia, there is a Byzantine fortress and several Byzantine churches with superb frescoes.
