The summit of Mt Pantokrátor (906m/2973ft) is the highest peak on the island of Corfu. On the top of the hill is an abandoned monastery of 1347. Beyond Pyrgí the road follows a winding course northward, close to the coast, along the steep slopes of Mt Pantokrátor, with side roads going off to a few small fishing villages and bays with bathing beaches. In 20 km/12.5 mi it comes to the coastal village of Kassiópi, with the remains of a medieval castle.
