Great Yarmouth - Old Merchant's House, Row 111 Houses & Greyfriars Cloister

Yarmouth's "Rows" are a characteristic feature of the older part of the town. Before their numbers were substantially reduced by bombing during the last war, there were 120 or so of these very narrow lanes. Narrowest of all is Kitty Witches Row, in the area between Hall Quay and the Market Place. The ancient, carefully restored Tollhouse in Middlegate Street, and the 17th century Old Merchant's House, are now museums.

On South Quay there are several fine old houses; No. 4 contains the pleasing Elizabethan House Museum (furniture and other everyday effects from the 16th to the 19th century). At the end of the street is the Town Hall (1883).
