Granada - Plaza Nueva

Northeast of the Granada Cathedral, in the busy Plaza Nueva, is the Audiencia (Law Courts), built between 1531 and 1587 as the Real Cancillería (Royal Chancellery). It has a beautiful two-story arcaded courtyard and a magnificent staircase with a fine timber ceiling. From the Plaza Nueva the Cuesta de Gomérez ascends to the Alhambra, above the town to the east.

Santa Ana
At the northeast end of the Plaza Nueva in Seville, the Río Darro emerges from underground. Here too is the Renaissance church of Santa Ana (1541-48), with a Plateresque doorway and a minaret-like tower (1563).
