From the Cuesta del Chapiz, Calle del Salvador leads into the picturesque little lanes of the Albaicín quarter, parts of which still have something of a Moorish character.

San Nicolás
Beyond San Salvador in Granada is the church of San Nicolás (1525), the heart of the Albaicín quarter. From here there is a splendid view, one which is frequently painted, of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada.
Arab Walls
From Puerta Nueva (Puerta de los Estandartes) a well preserved stretch of the town's Arab walls runs west to the Puerta Monaitia. The best view of the walls is from the Cuesta de la Alhacaba, which leads to the Plaza del Triunfo. In this square is the Puerta de Elvira, once the town's principal gate, which dates from the ninth century.
San Salvador
In the Albaicín quarter is the Mudéjar church of San Salvador, built on the site of an earlier mosque.
