Gettysburg - Seminary Ridge
Seminary Ridge was the primary Confederate position west of Gettysburg for days two and three of the battle.
General A.P. Hill aligned his corps along this ridge on July 1. His men occupied it throughout the remainder of the battle.

Meanwhile, Meade's Army of the Potomac occupied Culp's Hill and Cemetery Hill one mile west of this position, and his line extended southward on Cemetery Ridge toward Little Round Top. The U-shaped lines of both armies matched each other.

The North Carolina monument is located at Seminary Ridge. It represents a group of North Carolina soldiers in "Pickett's Charge", and is accompanied by native dogwoods and a stone monolith that lists the North Carolina commands present at Gettysburg. One in every four Confederate soldiers who fell at Gettysburg was a North Carolinian.

Virginia Monument
The Virginia Monument is a statue of General Lee sitting atop Traveler, his favorite horse. On the base of the monument is a group of bronze figures representing the various backgrounds of the soldiers who served under Virginia's flag, all sculpted by F. William Sievers.
