Schwarzenberg Attractions
Schwarzenberg lies in a deep basin in the western Erzgebirge at the junction of the Schwarzwasser and the Mittweida. Surrounded by hills, it offers good walking, climbing and skiing.
The exhibits in the Erzgebirge Iron and Tin Museum in Schwarzenberg include a 19th C. nailsmith's forge and products from foundries in the Erzgebirge.
The Late Gothic Schloss Schwarzenberg (1433) incorporates remains, including a keep from an earlier 12th C. castle; in 1555-58 it was converted into a hunting lodge by Elector Augustus of Saxony. It now contains a museum.
